Another Ballast Day

This past workday on May 3 saw two work trains in operation as ballast and dirt were moved around the railroad.

  • Ken and James added a safety retaining wall along the outside of the Agua Dulce siding.
  • Doug, Shannon, and Aaron were filling and perfecting ties in the vicinity of San Jacinto.
  • Tim was on the tractor delivering loads of ballast and dirt and refilling the ballast tipple.
  • Chris and Luke operated one ballast train, loaded at the front grade crossing, and spread the ballast in the right leg of the loop up to the Hitzfelder-Beck bridge.
  • Sofia drove the second work train and delivered dirt and ballast from the ballast tipple to the Agua Dulce area.
  • John and Alexander backfilled dirt along the new retaining wall and ballasted and levelled track in Agua Dulce.
  • Paul cut another pallet of ties.
  • Lori and Linda prepared a large taco bar for lunch and took grandkids on adventures around the railroad.
  • Bob arrived the next day and built another stack of track panels.

Here is a tour of the railroad from Sunday morning
