A Swarm of Activity

A crew of 18 descended on the A&TC this past Saturday, August 9. Incredible work was happening all over the railroad:

  • John T lead a crew at San Patricio continuing the final grade work. That crew included Sofia, Ken, Richard, Philip, Aaron, and Shannon.
  • Stephen oversaw the utility installations for the RVs, steaming bays, yard, and the Austin social area. This crew included Ken, Richard, Philip, John O, David J, Mark, Bob, and Tim.
  • James completed the elevation surveys around the San Jacinto loop and from Coleto to Austin with Chris’ help. Chris also moved around with odds jobs including building a swing bench and moving the light poles to their positions.
  • Tim kept the tractor busy moving the stainless steel counters to the kitchen area and keeping the ballast tipple full.
  • David S continued the landscaping improvements in the Austin area.
  • Lori and Linda served watermelon for the mid-morning break and lasagna for lunch. No one left hungry.
  • In the afternoon, a container was delivered. It’s location was cleared Friday afternoon by Ken with some assistance from Stephen. This container will be served by the permanent transfer table when it is built next year.

On Sunday, Stephen eliminated the large brush pile and began covering the remaining open trenches.

On Monday, Philip returned to work on final grade work in San Patricio. Philip also generously loaned his power tamper for the next couple of months.
