This past Saturday, August 16, eight of us had a very productive day.
- John T and Sofia continued the grade work in San Patricio. It is getting very close to completion. Chris was shuttling ballast cars rapidly the first part of the morning.
- Ken and Mike built the form for the turntable ring. This was meticulous work pounding in stakes, marking them according to the laser level, and attaching the plywood while double-checking with the laser. Kassie arrived after lunch (yes, person #9) and helped with plywood installation.
- John O terminated the circuits in the turntable breaker panel – beautiful work. Later in the afternoon, he and Stephen connected the service cables in the power pole panel. They tested each outlet finding zero issues.
- Stephen moved around the area finishing up little tasks as well as playing gopher and answering questions. The last circuit in the yard ramp junction box was connected and the box screwed shut. A post was installed for the social area lighting extension junction box. Linda installed the weatherproof cover. Chris helped move dirt to fill in the remaining open trenches in the social area. In the afternoon, Linda and Stephen placed the light poles in position and distributed the lamp heads for installation – the last utility task.
- With Lori out of town, Linda prepared filling cheesesteak sandwiches with a brownie chaser. There were popsicles mid-morning and ice cream sandwiches mid-afternoon. (Heads up: the pickle-pops John and Sofia brought finally froze and are ready for the next work session.)
