February Workday

Saturday brought a full crew and a whole lotta progress out on the line.

  • Richard and David spent the day musclin’ concrete into the cinder‑block cores of the toilet tank walls — gritty work for sure.
  • Nick kept after the ties, carryin’ on with the never‑ending gandy dance of track maintenance.
  • Paul wrangled that stubborn yaupon brush along the right‑of‑way, keepin’ the line lookin’ sharp.
  • John O was busy cuttin’ lumber for the kitchen shed roof frame — precision work that sets the whole structure up right.
  • Lori and Linda cooked up a hearty pot of minestrone for lunch, the kind that hits the spot after a mornin’ of elbow grease.
  • Ken, John T, Sophia, and Stephen teamed up on the kitchen shed, addin’ braces to the porch beam, finishin’ the side wall sheathing and siding, and gettin’ the roof frame set. By day’s end, they even managed to get a few sheets of plywood up top.

All told, it was one of those classic Texas workdays — good folks, good food, and a whole lotta honest progress under the open sky.
